Conference Location
Computing Frontiers 2014 takes place in the city of Cagliari on the island
of Sardinia, Italy. Conference rooms are located in a place called
the "Ghetto".
The “Ghetto” is at the border of the Castello quarter of Cagliari
and is faced to another very old quarter of the city Stampace, dominating
it from the Castello hill offering an amazing view of the city.
This building, originally conceived for military scopes, has been erected
in 1738. Currently it hosts cultural events, such as meetings and temporary
expositions.
Its position, in the pure original heart of the city, is unique and
CF participants will have the chance of crossing the historical medieval
quarters (Castello, Stampace, Villanova and Marina) and will then
appreciate the real character of Cagliari.

Ghetto website for further information
Poster Session and Banquet Location
The conference banquet will be held together with a poster session
on the 2nd day of the conference (Wednesday, 21th of May)
in the beautiful
Convento San Giuseppe (Via Paracelso, continuation of Via Parigi,
Cagliari, +39 070.503343).
This is a building of great historical and artistic interest.
It is skilled in hosting social events and dinners, providing different
indoor and outdoor solutions to create a perfect atmosphere for events.
The poster session will be hosted in its marvelous porch, before the Banquet,
and will start approximately at 18:30. There will be a bus from the city center
at 18:00, in front of the Camera di Commercio (Largo Carlo Felice 72,
09124 Cagliari, which is near to Piazza Yenne, see
map).
If you want to directly get to the banquet location yourself:
- it is a 50 minutes walk from Piazza Yenne near the conference venue,
see this map.
- from the city centre buses number 30 and 31 can be taken in the
Piazza Matteotti (where the Bus and the Train station are located) to bus
stop "Viale Marconi/via Vienna" (map here).
Rides are nearly every 10 minutes and the single ride ticket is 1.20 Euro
(tickets can be found in bars and newsagents, but cannot be purchased on
the bus). From the "Viale Marconi/via Vienna" you can easily reach the
Convento by walk in 10 minutes (map here).
- by Taxi the ride should take nearly 15 minutes. Check out
Cooperativa Radio Taxi "Quattro Mori"
(070-400101, email radiotaxi@email.it) or
Cooperativa Radio Taxi "Rossoblu"
(070-6655, info@radiotaxirossoblu.com).
Where To Stay Nearby
Castello, Stampace, Marina or Villanova are the most historical, attractive
and touristic part of the city. These quarters represent the beating heart
of the Cagliari city life. They are plenty of cafe, pubs and small
characteristic bistros. The most famous “shopping” streets (Via Manno,
Via Roma, Via Garibaldi and Via Alghero) are at a walking distance.
Bus and train stations are in 10 min walking distance.
Accommodations
Most of the accommodations, such as B&Bs (of different standard) are
located in historical streets and buildings.
